Besiktas and Marseille meet in Istanbul for their opening fixture of the 2026-2027 Europa League campaign, according to RMC Sport, which is carrying live coverage of the match. The game marks matchday one for both clubs in the competition's league phase.
RMC Sport reported the fixture under its live coverage of the first round of Europa League matches. Footmercato published the official starting lineups for both teams ahead of kickoff, while Linternaute listed the Besiktas-Marseille game among the day's scores and standings as part of its rolling results coverage.
Attention around Marseille's participation has centered on the size of its squad. L'Équipe raised the question of whether the club is properly equipped for the Europa League, noting a limited group of available players and no new signings brought in. Eurosport framed the same theme around the team's approach, asking how Marseille would commit fully to the competition given the personnel available.
